Deleting wireless profiles on a Windows/iOS/Android devices

There will be a situation where a windows computer cannot able to connect to a wi-fi network, usually with an error message ‘unable to connect to this network’ . The basic troubleshooting is to try deleting wireless profiles/networks that are already stored on  a computer.

Windows XP /Vista /Windows 7/ Windows 8.1/ Windows 10



Windows 10

Deleting wireless profiles is straightforward on Windows 10.

Step 1: Click on the windows logo windows-logo_318-1544and click on Settings (gear icon)


Step 2: Click on Network & Internet


Step 3: Click on Wi-Fi on the left and select ‘Manage known networks’


Step 4: Select your current Wi-Fi network name (or  your previous network names) and click on ‘Forget’


Then try reconnecting to your wifi network as usual, Windows should now ask you to type your Wi-Fi password. Enter your password and click on connect.


To make your iphone/ipad forget your connected wifi network

Step 1: Click on Settings, Wi-Fi


Step 2: Tap on the desired Wi-Fi name


Step 3: Click on ‘Forget This Network’ to remove the Wi-FI name from the device. (If your device Wi-Fi credentials is not saved, you will not see the ‘forgot this network’ option)


Then try re-connecting to the wifi network, ios device should ask for password to connect.
